The day which turned out to be the most amazing one of the trip started of quiet and slow
with a bike trip along the river:
Actually doing the laundry in the river - not the first time seeing this...
A delight to each German soul! A real proper bicycle path!
What a scenery! Not the best weather but still stunning.
Those boats - wanted to do a trip with them too but could not figure out how -
well did not put my heart in it though. ;)
Palm trees!
Mine for about two hours for a ridiculously low amount. Wanted to post - but forgot it.
Saw a kingfisher at this spot. Unfortunately could not catch it with the camera. ;)
To my right
To my left
This area is famous for a couple of things - among them tea.
A statue of Confucius himself! As far as I understood...
Found next door to our hostel.
Some nice restaurant.
Amaryllis :D
Our "miracle" - called Liang - a Chinese - speaking fluent English and German and up to spent some time with us. Well apparently all by accident. I want to believe in coincidence and do not doubt. :)
So amazing to finally have someone to exchange with. To be able to ask about China.
We had lunch together at this local restaurant in our village.
Well also in China German beer is appreciated.
We came across those on our quest for coffee.
We found this lovely place with amazing atmosphere and great coffee.
I got a hot chocolate.
By insisting to pay we got Liang all flustered as also in China the man is the one paying.
And caring the handbag of the Lady. He offered to carry my backpack during our hike up the mountain several times. Being totally open about the fact that I looked like I needed it! :D
Wuyi Mountains are famous for their rich fauna and
flora and the tea - a special variety of Wulong tea - and the many medicinal
herbs. In the evergreen broad-leaved and conifer forests are found 700 year old
Ginkgo trees, over 140 species of birds, and reptiles and amphibians. As well
as more than 50 species of snakes, including many poisonous snakes.
Unfortunately the pictures do not do the stunning beauty justice. They can only give an impression.
Most points of interests in China are hopelessly crowded but we did not meet a soul as we hiked up the mountain. Following a narrow meandering path. Through a fine drizzle which mystified the mountain and allowed to climb that late in the day.
Higher and higher we went - wanting to discover what the next turn of the path would reveal
A dream come true meandering through tea fields...
Coming across beautiful forest orchid or maybe it is a snapdragon - who knows...
The path we followed...
The views we were rewarded with
My favourite spot on the hike - oh the picture can not do it justice - sniff!
Highest spot we made it to.
Well pretty high exspecially considering we walked up on an late afternoon.
A plate back at the hostel.
We ended the day with a small dinner at some funny place with chains of lights in the dark...
