Friday, April 11, 2014 - Back to beautiful Bangladesh!

Sniff had to leave our suite at 5 am to make it to the airport in time:

I love the fact that the Chinese do not take themselves to serious. 

Many Adults preserved a somewhat childlike attitude.

 This is just an example being able to use comic style figurines in regards to an absolute serious subject. They still made me fill out a departure card which I had forgotten and stood in line for nothing the first time around. ;)

Back in Kunming where I stranded on my way to Shanghai.

Back in Bangladesh: 

Great first impression when you land at the capitals airport...

This is the 'Lost & Found' area. I freak out every time I see it imagining my lovingly packed luggage might end up here one day. I was told that apparently a lot of people bring back electronic items from Asia covered in blankets and hope customs will not discover them. They usually do and then the person has to pay tax on them which can add up to several hundred Dollar so the items stay at the airport...

Thursday, April 10, 2014 - Yue Xiu Park

Were slightly hangover. ;) Had a late brekky and talked about some bothersome stuff. Got going at some point. 

Yuexiu Park is the largest park in downtown Guangzhou. Covering an area of 860,000 square meters (212.5 acres), it is made up of three artificial lakes and seven hills of Yuexiu Mountain; hence the name Yuexiu Park.

So lush, so green, so well tended.

So sad I can not give you an impression of the music - was quite special in itself...

 

The Five-Ram Sculpture is one of the most famous structures in Guangzhou. It has become the emblem of the city. Legend has it that more than 2,000 years ago, the city was a barren land with people who despite hard work were suffering from famine. One day five immortals in five-color garments came riding on five rams, playing their legendary music. The rams held sheaves of rice in their mouths. The immortals left the sheaves of rice for the local people, gave blessings to the city and left. The rams turned into stone and the city became a rich and populous place. Guangzhou got the name of the City of Rams.

Who would expect a Chinese playing the bagpipe?!

Unfortunately the guy to the left insisted on giving it a try to.

Yes I had to document the loo. Impressive with the control panel and all the functions one could like to use. No I did not try a single one. As long as it flushes I am happy! ;)

Wednesday, April 09, 2014 - Baiyun Shan

I want that angry bird cake because it looks so funny! :D

Baiyun Mountain is a park with natural hills and lakes, and an ideal sightseeing place and summer resort, with a development history of over 1,000 years.

  

Took the electric car at the beginning. Chinese Parks equals walk and walk and walk. Due to the ascending slope even 3km can be a long way. Not worth it if not much is happening...

Lots of walking - but rewarded with spectacular views:

Unfortunately they were closed.

The Baiyun Cableway is a bicable ropeway and has 80 cars seating 6 passengers each. 

How crazy is that? The cable car runs underneath a highway bridge!

The lower station is located east of Yuntai Garden and the upper station is at the Peak Park, a difference of 198 m in altitude and are located 1,672 m away from each other. 

Had some cocktails at some fancy bar with a great view.
