Huangshan is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Mount Huangshan and Hongcun and Xidi, the ancient villages of southern Anhui. It is a leading tourist destination in China.

For some reason we made it to none of the mentioned above but spent a rainy day in the city...

Well all in all it was a lousy day - it had rained through the night and my laundry was dripping wet. We had walked through the drizzle and I coughed a light fewer. Just one of the days when travelling is not fun. But as you can see above we still tried to make the most of it...

While waiting for the long distance bus which would bring us to the next destination we used the time to check out a giant Buddha in a beautiful setting:

We decided the cat is Buddha checking out the weird humans trying to manifest their beliefs. Being petted by a hand with appropriate pilgrims ware.... ;)

This is an aerial view of the whole complex. I tried to find some additional information online but unfortunately I am missing the correct key words...

It is for sure fairly new. Maybe finished in 2008.

Went by bus for two hours to our next destination.

In China they have great road signs like: "Life is precious - follow traffic rules!" Absolute award winning! :D

Well for some reason the bus we took did not bring us to the town we actually wanted to go to - but that is China and the people are amazing. The moment fellow travellers realized we wanted to go to a different destination, they informed the bus driver - who new the bus going there and since the other bus came toward us on the road - our bus stopped... the other bus stopped... traffic stopped... and a guy from the other bus came across the street to help us with our luggage - they must have coordinated the via mobile - fliegender Wechsl auf offener Straße - was very impressed. Made my day!

Some bike-rischka guy who offered his services the moment we emerged from the bus. He actually brought us to our accommodation - being insecure due to the bus change before we were so thankful to have actually made it.
