Saturday, February 8, 2014 - Srimangal trip - day 2

Staircase of our guesthouse:

house next to ours

eucalyptus?! I want some Koalas then!

A roof of green leaves above us. Setting of to an rain forest walk.

Pretty Bamboo!

Lawachara National Park covers approximately 1,250 ha (12.5 km2) of semi-evergreen forests of the Tropical and subtropical coniferous forests Biome and mixed deciduous forests of the Tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests Biome.

In 2008, the Bangladesh government permitted the U.S.-based international Chevron Corporation (petroleum) to conduct a 3D seismic exploration in the Lawachara National Park. Chevron claims to give "utmost priority in protecting the biodiversity of the area". Field crews are instructed to avoid drilling shot holes near threatened plant species or areas of wildlife activity. Environmentalists, however, argued that the survey will have a long term adverse impact on the forest.

According to our guide some animal created these.

Saw lots of funky spiders - this being a pic of a colleague - awesome!

Do you find Stefan & Kirsten?
Gives you an impression of the seize - impressive right?!

How ants feel?! Like this I guess:

Finishing our forest walk we came to a shed to catch our breath. Had fun with a monkey.

Also saw below train. The movie "Around the world in 80 days" - the original - mind you - shall have been shot here... (the picture being courtesy of that colleague again)

We went back to town - had lunch at a doggy place. And went to a bike rental. A hilarious place. Some of the bikes were brand- the screws still had to be tightened.

We went to visit some "world famous" 7 layer color tea cabin (again a most doggy shed). On our way we cycled through well?! managed rubber plantations.

It could not be discovered what actually achieves the different layers. Whether it is different kind of tea or milk/sugar content.

Afterwards on our way we encountered a tea pickers wedding where we stopped shortly. On we went to a spot where a Radha-Krishna cultural stick dance program was held for us. After the show the girls had to join for one dance as well. As present for the performers toothbrushes had been bought...

On our way home after a long day...
